Course Objectives This postgraduate course deals with diagnostic hematopathology and will take place in Linz from the 4th to the 6th November, 2020. The course is focused on reviewing common as well as difficult cases, including lymph nodes, and extranodal manifestations of hematolymphoid disorders, based on the 2016 update of the WHO classification. Bone marrow biopsies are not included in this course.
On each day, a number of cases will be extensively discussed by the faculty members using an interactive approach with «live» microscopic demonstration. Particular attention will be given to the diagnostic criteria, differential diagnosis and the rational use and limitations of immunochemistry and molecular genetic testing, as well as the integration of histological/immunochemical and molecular findings. Several lectures will give an overview on classification of malignant disorders and diagnostic issues, complementing the case discussions. The participants will have the opportunity to review the digitized cases (virtual microscopy) four weeks prior to and after the course.
